“The Auxiliary of the IWK Health Centre Captures the Essence of Caring”
Purpose With A Passion
The IWK Auxiliary was established in 1946. Since then, the Auxiliary has been a vital support system for the IWK Health Centre, providing volunteer services and financial support. The Auxiliary’s presence is evident everywhere throughout the Health Centre; in the gifts it has provided and the projects it has helped create and fund. Since its inception, the Auxiliary has given over $6.2 million to the IWK Health Centre.
Impact on the Community
IWK Auxilians are members of the community who care about the IWK Health Centre. They contribute their time and talents to help make the hospital experience as comfortable as possible for the patients and their families. The Auxiliary is the only volunteer organization which provides items of care and comfort that are not provided by government funding.
The Auxiliary is always seeking new and innovative ways to help the IWK be a leader in “cutting edge” research projects and providing funding to help deliver excellent clinical care in a family-centred environment. New ideas and new people keep the Auxiliary fresh and on the cutting edge. The Auxiliary is always looking to welcome new members.
Becoming an IWK Auxiliary member is as simple as filling out the attached membership form. Membership is open to everyone. The membership fee is $25.00 annually. Membership forms are also available by contacting the IWK Auxiliary Office at 470-8918.
Since 1946, the IWK Auxiliary has given over $6.2 million dollars to the IWK Health Centre.
