Depression Detective Tackles the Genetic Code
Working with the IWK, Dr. Kathleen Pajer and her team have developed a unique blood test that may change the way doctors diagnose early onset depression, and which may go a long way to ending the stigma around depression.
Before the CAPA program, patients and families often waited up to 20 months before first contact with a mental health professional. Upon learning about the Choice and Partnership Approach program through a friend, Dr. Sharon Clark and the teams at the IWK were able to dramatically reduce waiting times for first contact and assessment.
Since, the program has allowed parents like Sherri-Lee Russell and her son to get the care they need, when they need it.
